I learned how to design and shape surfboards for a Project Based Learning unit about wave behavior.
Master of Curiosity
Educator | Strategist | Mountain & Ocean Obsessed
It’s taken a long time to put into words what I “do,” but at the end of the day I enjoy breaking down complex problems into simple parts and processes; observing a system as a whole, and turning dials within that system to optimize its performance.
Whether it’s the puzzle of human performance in mountain running or freediving in my n=1 life experiment, using data and science to inform my coaching practices, curiosity is the backbone of what drives me.
We are all systems, and life is complex.
I’m Curious About….
Learning as Culture
Exploring how learning becomes part of an organization’s culture: shaping rituals, language, and shared assumptions about growth
Work as Identity
How does work help people construct identity? How does purpose, craft, and contribution replace linear advancement as markers of success?
Sensemaking in Systems
Studying how schools, teams, and industries make sense of change- surfacing the tensions between innovation and tradition that define adaptive systems.
The Hidden Curriculum of Place
I’m fascinated by the unwritten lessons about who belongs, how learning happens, and what success looks like at work and schools.
Learning in Motion
I believe environments that challenge us- in nature, through craft, or in movement- reveal how people actually learn, adapt, and collaborate.
Teaching as a Cultural Practice
Teaching should transmit values, build belonging, and make the invisible assumptions of an organization accessible.
Designing for Belonging
I’m drawn to ways organizations design for the new kids on the block. How are they initiated? What subcultures are formed? Most importantly, how is purpose shared over time?
